Human Books Coming to Brighton Campus Library May 1: Reserve Your Spot Now
Reservations are now being taken for our third annual MCC Human Books Event,
which will take place on Wednesday, May 1, from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the
LeRoy V. Good Library on the Brighton campus. These are conversations, not
presentations--Human Books have a story to tell, and this is your chance to
talk with some very interesting people.
This year's Human Books include a Holocaust survivor; a gay rights pioneer;
a Zen Buddhist priest; a US Army and Navy veteran; a parent of a transgender
child; a local author; and a variety of people who will talk about their
ethnic, racial, and religious backgrounds, including biracial, Muslim,
indigenous, and Native American.
This event utilizes an innovative and positive approach to challenge
stereotypes and prejudices in a constructive and non-confrontational atmosphere
of exploration and discovery. It is intended to encourage dialogue as a path
toward developing intellectual curiosity, empathy, and empowerment through the
exploration of new perspectives.
Please visit https://libguides.monroecc.edu/

with them. A limited number of seats are available for each session. Students,
faculty, and staff are all welcome to reserve their spots.
