Men of Excellence - Creating A Pipeline for Success
On Monday, December 3, 2018, MCC's Men of Excellence (MOE) group had its end
of semester Potluck at the PRISM Center. In addition to MOE participants, in
attendance for this event were members of the Black Student Union and members
of RIT's Men of Honor and Ambition (M.O.C.H.A.) group. The goal of the event
was to show ongoing support and encouragement for African American and Latino
men who are striving for excellence. Many thanks to Milladge Griffin,
Coordinator for the MOE, for organizing this well attended event. Also in
attendance were Joan Morehead (Admissions), EJ Watkins (Counseling Services),
Komekia Peterson (Counseling Services), Jason Parker (Academic Support
Services), Henry Brown (Mail Services), Junior Dillon (Counseling Services),
Shirley Batista Provost (PRISM), Gary Johnson (Schools and Integrated Pathways)
and former MCC employee David Benitez, who currently serves as the Assistant
Director for Rochester City Scholars and MOCHA at RIT.
Men of Excellence is a leadership program that will provide male students of
color with the skills necessary to successfully navigate both in and outside
the classroom.
Mission: Men of Excellence program mission is designed to
academically, professionally, and socially support male students of color by
providing coaching and leadership development opportunities through
collaborative initiatives.
