Build Sustainability into Your Life - Wrapping Paper

Americans use around 8,000 tons of wrapping paper annually, roughly equal to 50,000 trees.

  • Use Sunday comics, old maps, posters, paper bags, or calendar pages to wrap.
  • Wrap in usable items like scarves, handkerchiefs, or bandannas.
  • Place your gift into a reusable shopping bag.

If using purchased wrapping paper:

  • Avoid foil, metallic, and heavily laminated papers which should be thrown away.
  • After using--empty, flatten and place plain wrapping paper, gift boxes, and tubes in curbside recycle bins or bring to Ecopark.
