Designing an Emergency Response and Alternative Travel Plan
In keeping with the spirit of FEMA's National Preparedness Month, the
Department of Public Safety would like to share with you the blueprint for
designing and implementing your own personal Emergency Preparedness Plan.
Regardless of your location in the community and your specific personal
needs and requirements, every individual and family can and will benefit from
advanced planning in the event of a localized or national emergency. Attached
you will find two important documents from the Federal Emergency Management
Agency, FEMA, that will provide you with information regarding steps you can
take to enhance your preparedness and resiliency during an emergency.
Of particular value is the FEMA Emergency Commuter Plan which can be used to
identify alternative routes of travel in the event of road closures due to
travel restrictions enacted based upon severe weather, emergency conditions, or
natural disaster.
For additional information on individual, group or Departmental training on
emergency preparedness please contact Emergency Manager Chuck DiSalvo at

Thank you.
