Commencement - NEW Security Measures for 2019
The MCC Commencement ceremony is scheduled for Saturday, June 1, 2019, 9:30
a.m. at the Blue Cross Arena. Students and guests may enter the facility
starting at 8:00 a.m. through the Exchange St. entrance. The entrance on 1 War
Memorial Square (Broad St.) will not be available for entry.
New security measures are being implemented by the Blue Cross Arena
management at this year's Commencement to ensure a safe environment for
celebrating the success of our students.
New this year:
- All persons entering, or re-entering, the Blue Cross Arena will pass
through electromagnetic wanding.
- All personal bags must be inspected upon entry. Bags should be soft-sided
and must completely fit under your seat without blocking the aisle.
- Only personal bags, such as medical and/or diaper bags and purses will be
permitted in the venue.
- Backpacks, coolers, duffel bags and briefcases are strictly prohibited.
- Helium balloons are not permitted
- Any dangerous item will not be allowed in the building.
- The security process is a condition of entry. To expedite your entry into
the facility, please plan to leave metallic objects elsewhere.
- A list of items prohibited by the Blue Cross Arena, include, but are not
limited to:
- Animals (except service animals)
- Aerosol Cans
- Alcoholic Beverages
- Backpacks
- Chains
- Drones
- Explosives
- Firearms
- Food or Beverage from Outside
- Fuel
- Frisbee/Beach Balls
- Hazardous Chemicals
- Illegal Drugs
- Laser Pens
- Razor Type Blades
- Self-Defense Spray
- Selfie Sticks
- Weapons of Any Kind
After entering the lobby of the Blue Cross Arena and passing through
security, MCC Public Safety personnel will be available to guide faculty,
students and guests to the proper location for their participation in the
Commencement ceremony.
- Faculty and employees will walk to the right side of the lobby and enter
the doorway located next to the "Amerks Team Store".
- Graduates will walk to the left side of the lobby and follow the walkway
next to the escalator.
- Guests will walk up the stairs, take the escalator or ride the elevator to
the 2nd floor of the lobby.
