Winter Safety Tips for Walking on Snow and Ice
It's that time of the year again, when winter arrives in Western New York!!
This means there is a potential for freezing temperatures, snowstorms, icy
roads,and slippery sidewalks - all of which present a variety of health and
safety hazards.The Facilities Grounds and Building Services crews do their best
to keep sidewalks, steps and interior entrances clear of snow, ice and water.
However, snow can fall rapidly while employees are at work or just before dawn
with little time for snow removal operations to take place. Also remember, ice
that melts during the day freezes again overnight! It is important for everyone
to recognize the hazards of slippery walks and parking lots.
Here are some safety tips to reduce your risk of falling when slippery
conditions exist:
