COVID-19 Testing & Tracking Processes

On Sunday, September 6, Governor Cuomo and Chancellor Malatras Launched a COVID-19 Case Tracker Dashboard for SUNY colleges and universities (link to article).

On a daily basis, Monroe Community College tracks and reports COVID-19-related information to SUNY and the Monroe County Department of Public Health (MCDOPH).

MCC Health Services, Human Resources and Public Safety managers coordinate and report this information, including the number of COVID-19 positive test results for employees and students.

Your cooperation is required and appreciated in order for the College to accurately report this information. Please be aware of the following:

  • If you are ill, do not come to campus. If you become ill while on campus, please leave immediately.
  • Before coming to campus each day, complete a COVID-19 self-assessment. If you do not pass the self-assessment, MCC Health Services or Public Safety representatives will follow up with you for more information.
  • Students who test positive for COVID-19 must directly contact MCC Health Services Director Jackie Carson at jcarson@monroecc.edu or (585) 292-2523. Health Services staff will confirm the positive test with MCDOPH and initiate contact tracing.
  • MCC Health Services staff (registered nurses) stay in consistent contact with and assist the 361 student-residents who live in the Alice Holloway Young Commons (residence halls).
  • Tribune Hall on the Brighton Campus is where students, if needed, isolate if ill or test positive for COVID-19, and quarantine if they might be ill, are experiencing symptoms, or have been exposed to COVID-19.
  • Following the completion of mandatory isolation and quarantine, students must request a release letter from the MCDOPH and provide it to MCC Health Services in order to come to campus. MCDOPH sends release letters via email.
  • Campus population density at the Applied Technologies Center, Brighton Campus and Downtown Campus has been reduced by nearly 90 percent this fall to maximize social distancing.

An MCC COVID-19 Dashboard is in development and will be added to the Coronavirus Updates/Return to Campus guide as soon as possible.

Please direct your questions to Health Services or covid19response@monroecc.edu.

Thank you.
