Liberty Partnerships Program Hosts 2018 College Bound Kick Off
MCC's Liberty Partnerships Program (LPP) hosted their annual College Bound
Kick Off on October 24th. The event was an opportunity for LPP students and
their parents to learn about current trends in college admissions and financial
aid, as well as ask questions of the LPP staff and presenters. The presenters
this year were Victoria DiMatteo, Academic Coordinator for LPP, Marla Dinkle,
RISE Coordinator at MCC, and Sean Hanlon, Admissions Counselor from Nazareth
College. Each presenter discussed their role in assisting students with the
college application and admissions process and provided critical information
for the LPP students as well as their parents.
Liberty Partnerships Program was pleased to have student and parent
representation from each of their target schools, with students in grades 7
through 12 in attendance! The College Bound Kick Off is the first event in the
LPP College Knowledge workshop series for the 2018 school year. Upcoming
workshops open to LPP students will focus on FAFSA assistance, the scholarship
search, understanding a high school transcript, and finding your "dream"
college. We look forward to another wonderful year of pre-collegiate
programming with our students, and helping them navigate the world of college
admissions!
The Liberty Partnerships Program is funded by a grant from the New York
State Department of Education.
