"Confronting Evil" Program Monday

Please join MCC's Holocaust, Genocide, and Human Rights Project as it marks the 80th anniversary of Kristallnacht. Kristallnacht, or "The Night of Broken Glass," occurred from November 9-10, 1938 throughout Germany and Austria. During this pogrom, hundreds of Jewish synagogues were incinerated, 7500 Jewish businesses destroyed, 100 Jews were murdered by antisemitic mobs, and 30,000 Jewish men were sent to concentration camps. The Project remembers this event yearly to emphasize that the lessons of the past have contemporary obligations. This message, sadly, is even more salient given the waves of antisemitic violence in our country in recent months.

This year, the Project is proud to welcome Dr. James Waller as its keynote speaker. Drawing on over two decades of primary research and scholarship from a wide range of disciplinary perspectives, Waller's latest text, Confronting Evil: Engaging Our Responsibility to Prevent Genocide, is grounded in the belief that preventing mass atrocity is an achievable goal, but only if we have the collective will to do so.
