Phi Theta Kappa Receives Distinguished Award
Please join me in congratulating MCC's Phi Theta Kappa Alpha Theta Iota
chapter officers who were recognized during the 2020 Virtual New York Regional
Awards Ceremony.
Monroe's chapter is one of the over 60 chapters in the region. The Alpha
Theta Iota received New York's 2nd runner up for the Distinguished chapter. The
Most Distinguished Chapter awards are given when chapters implement successful
College Projects and Honors In Action community programs which are reflected in
Hallmark Essays. The College Project leadership team worked with the Success
Scholars Program Committee developing student support services. The Honors In
Action project, incorporates academic research and analysis, leadership roles
and development, and an action component. Lead by Professor Scott Rudd, the
students examined "In what ways do the prejudices and stigma enforced by
hegemonic masculinity impact the mental and physical health of families in
impoverished areas of the Rochester community".
Stay tuned for the Phi Theta Kappa Virtual International Award ceremony in
April.
