Guon Child Care Center at MCC will be offering FREE FULL DAY PreK for Rochester City School District (RCSD)
What is RCSD UPK (Universal Prekindergarten) & EPK (Expanded
Prekindergarten):
o Your child will receive 6 hours (9am-3pm) of
an intentionally planned Pre-K program. (Wrap-Around Care is available at an
additional cost, Before and After Care $125/week)
o The RCSD
Prekindergarten classrooms use the HighScope Curriculum. This is similar to the
centers current curriculum.
o The curriculum is aligned to NYS Learning
Standards and ensures continuity with elementary grades.
Who is
eligible?
o Residents of Rochester City School District
o
UPK - Children who are 4 years old, on or before December 1 in the school year
for which you are registering
o EPK - Children who are 3 on or before
December 1 in the school year for which you are registering. 3 Year Old
Students must meet one of the following criteria to qualify for the EPK
program: eligible for free or reduced-price lunch, a language other than
English spoken in the home, or receives special education services. Children
enrolling in EPK are selected by lottery.
How do I
register?
o To enroll your 4-year-old preschool child (4 by
December 1st) for RCSD UPK at the Richard M. Guon Child Care Center on the MCC
Brighton campus, go directly to the center to register, 1000 East Henrietta
Road (Building 22).
o To enroll your 3-year-old preschool child (3 by
December 1st) and enter into the lottery please go to the RCSD Office of
Student Placement (In April RCSD will hold a lottery for 3-year-olds based on
the choices on your application. RCSD will inform you of your child's assigned
school in May. If you do not get your first choice of school, your child will
be placed on a waiting list according to the lottery number).

What you need to bring with you to register:
1. The
child's birth certificate.
2. The parent's photo identification.
3.
The parent's proof of address (utility bill)
4. Guardianship papers if you
are not the parent.
5. Immunization record (you may register without this,
but you will need it as soon as your child starts school).
6. Health
Certificate/Appraisal Form (you may register without this, but you will need it
as soon as your child starts school).
7. Dental Health Certificate
(optional).
Will offering this program limit availability at the Child Care
Center for Non RCSD Residents?
o No...there are ample spaces for
Non RCSD families!!
