Learn about Careers in the Language Industry
- What's the difference between translation and interpreting?
- I'm bilingual. Is that enough for becoming a translator?
- Where can I work in the language industry, and does it pay?
- What skills do I need to work as a translator or interpreter?
If you would like to find out the answers to these and other related
questions, you're welcome to attend a brief presentation by TRS instructor and
translator Maria Guzenko. Attendees will learn about career options in the
language industry, including translation and interpreting, and will even try
their hand at interpreting--no foreign language knowledge required!
Students currently taking language classes, bilingual individuals, ESL
learners, or anyone curious about language careers is invited. The presentation
will be held in English, and you don't need to be fluent in another language to
attend.
This talk will concentrate on spoken/written language. Teachers are
encouraged to give extra credit assignments to their students who attend the
talk.
