MCC CSTEP Students Attend Pre-Medical Conference
Students from MCC's Collegiate Science and Technology Entrance Program
(CSTEP) attended the "Rx for Success" pre-medical conference on Saturday,
October 20 at the University at Buffalo's Jacobs School of Medicine and
Dentistry . The conference was hosted by the UB chapter of the Student National
Medical Association (SNMA) and UB CSTEP. Students heard from the Dean of
Admissions and medical school professors and had lunch with current med school
students. They also attended various hands-on workshops including suturing,
using patient simulators, and mock interviews for medical school. CSTEP is
planning to attend SNMA days at the University of Rochester and at Upstate
Medical Center in the spring semester.
CSTEP is funded by a legislative grant through the New York State Education
Department with the goal of increasing the number of students from
under-represented groups who are pursuing professional licensure and careers in
Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, (STEM) and health-related
fields
