Public Safety Bike Patrol
Now that the warmer weather has arrived, you may see MCC Public Safety Bike
Patrol Officers Anthony Iacuzzi, Mike Debruycker, and Joseph Zarcone patrolling
the campus.
To become Bike Patrol officers, they completed the Law Enforcement
Bicycle Patrol Course at the Public Safety Training Center. This course is
a demanding 40 hour training where the officers learn to ride their specially
equipped bicycles up and down stairs, over curbs, and through traffic with
at least 20 pounds of gear as part of their uniform.
The MCC Bike Patrol was officially re-launched in 2016 and has Community
Policing benefits, as it allows officers to interact with the college
community, and patrol areas that are inaccessible via patrol vehicles. The Bike
Patrol also has Sustainability benefits, as it helps reduce our carbon
footprint.
Look for Bike Patrol officers rolling around the campus and feel free to ask
for them to participate at on-campus events. Check out the attached pictures of
the the Bike Patrol in action!
