International Animation Day, October 28
When mentioning animation, it undoubtedly brings to mind those familiar
cartoons associated with childhood, or a blockbuster amusement produced by
mainstream media. Yet, few ever consider the vast undercurrent of independent
animators with global significance. The industry’s life-blood,
responsible for advancing the art form and defining international culture.
MCC’s Institute for The Humanities, and the Mercer Gallery would like
to take this moment to share with the College a short film directed and
animated by, Naghmeh Farzaneh. Naghmeh is an Iranian animator and filmmaker
currently based in Chicago. We are certain her unique and wonderful vision, is
one we can all agree, is of the greatest significance in our time. In
appreciation for an international community of artists, please take a few
moments — open your eyes, ears and hearts to celebrate
‘International Animation Day’ by watching ‘Scent of Geranium,’ by Naghmeh
Farzaneh.
