The 10th Annual Veterans Appreciation Week at MCC
One of the benefits of working at or attending a community college to start
your professional journey is the diversity of individuals who choose to work or
attend institutions like MCC. And, all too often, when we recognize that
diversity, we fail to pay due diligence in recognizing those who have chosen to
serve in the U.S. armed forces. Luckily at MCC, we have created a welcoming
community of support for our military service members, veterans, and their
families.
Under the leadership of Eric Wheeler, Assistant Director in the Office of
Veteran Services, we continue to ensure that that the service provided by these
brave men and women does not go unrecognized. And, it is worth noting that MCC
is one of the few colleges in the country that made the commitment a few year
ago to not only cancel classes, but to also close the college to honor the
services of faculty, staff and students who served.
It is in the spirit of this recognition that we invite the entire college
community to join us as we celebrate our veterans as part of the the 10th
Annual Veteran's Appreciation Week at MCC. To kick off this special week,
please join us for a virtual Veterans Day Ceremony on Tuesday, November 10,
2020, at noon. You can click on this link to join the celebration.
We look forward to your support of this event as well as the other events

In closing, in recognition of our service men and women who inspire every
day, I offer you this quote from John Quincy Adams, who states, "If your
actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, you
are a leader."
