Learn and share about Digital Citizenship and Title IX

As we continue to navigate this new landscape of remote learning and communication, we wanted to take a moment to reflect on being a positive digital citizen. Digital citizenship refers to the responsible use of technology by anyone who uses computers, the Internet, and digital devices to engage with society on any level.

Please view and share this video from our Prevention and Education Advisor, Shelby Trudeau. https://monroecommunit y.zoom.us/rec/share/wPJPN6v9rVFIXafgw3H4SPE5Nb3BT6a80CJM_KcKyE44wa4ChqkdDz2-vMQM cyQB?startTime=1587652728000

In this 18 minute video, Shelby examines civil discourse, digital literacy, digital hygiene, and its application to issues of exploitation, harassment, and cyber stalking.

We are using digital technology now more than ever. We encourage all members of our MCC community to take time and reflect on our role as digital citizens. Here are some sample discussion questions:

  • What can we do to keep ourselves safe in their social media environments?
  • How can we preserve and protect our health when using technology?
  • Are there different rules if someone tells you something online rather than in real life? Why?
  • In what ways do we benefit from internet access?
  • How do you present yourself online?
  • How do I model digital citizenship?
