MCC's On the Edge Drama Troupe Open Auditions
On the Edge Drama Troupe is a performing arts troupe that premiered in 2012
and hails from Monroe Community College. The troupe is known for its various
performances in all of the nine consecutive years of the Rochester
International Fringe Festival, and is excited to once again be performing at
the 2021 Fringe Festival. From unique and unconventional adaptations of
Shakespeare, Edgar Allan Poe, and Lewis Carroll, to creative performances of
movement, puppetry, and masque, to clever interactive comedy performed live
online, as well as chilling and avant garde productions of original scripts
from area playwrights, On the Edge Drama Troupe strives to produce performance
art that is both meaningful and reflective to our times and the human
condition.
This year, On the Edge Drama Troupe will be presenting its original show:
flOUR CITY interactive ROCgarden at the Rochester
Fringe Festival. Performances will be held outside at the Rochester
Contemporary Art Center on East Ave. We are currently looking for actors to
portray legendary Rochesterians as statues that come to life to tell their own
tales and bits of folklore about our region. Rehearsals will follow a Hybrid
model, and will be definitively scheduled upon student enrollment. If cast,
students will be enrolled in THE 160: Touring Theatre Troupe, and will receive
three credits. Interested students should upload an unlisted video of
themselves performing a contemporary monologue to YouTube and then send the
link to director Heather Chang at hchang2@monroecc.edu by next Wednesday,
Aug.18th.
Please note: The Rochester Fringe Festival is requiring ALL participants
to show proof of vaccination for Covid-19. This is a festival policy, not my
own, nor the college’s, and therefore is non-negotiable.
If you have any questions, please contact Heather Chang.
