A Constitution Day Discussion: What Does Democracy Mean To You?
Many argue that American democracy is at a crossroads. If true, it is
important to collectively discuss what democracy means to us all and how we
can build a stronger and more inclusive democratic society. The Democracy
Commitment at MCC and the Department of Anthropology, History, Political
Science, and Sociology are happy to bring you A Constitution Day
Discussion: What Does Democracy Mean to You?
Join professors Christina Lee (Anthropology), Njeru Murage (History), Nayda
Pares-Kane (Sociology), and Joe Scanlon (Political Science) for an interactive
discussion about the meaning of Democracy in American society and politics.
Panelists will discuss what democracy means to them personally and what it
means to study democracy through the lens of their field. This includes a
discussion of the historical, philosophical, social, and political features of
American democracy. This is an interactive opportunity to learn about the
features of American democracy and share your expectations for
American Democracy. This event is free and open to the public.
