MCC's Emergency Manager Graduates from FEMA's Advanced Emergency Management Academy

Chuck DiSalvo, the Coordinator of Strategic Planning/Emergency Manager at Monroe Community College, graduated with honors from the Federal Emergency Management Agency's (FEMA) Emergency Management Advanced Academy on Friday, September 28th.

The FEMA Emergency Management Institute in Emmitsburg, Maryland hosts the Emergency Managers Advanced Academy, a 4-week, 160-hour program designed to foster and develop advanced theories and concepts in Emergency Management. Attendees focus on the creation and implementation of regional and national emergency management planning, response, mitigation, and community involvement initiatives, with an emphasis on planning for future contingencies.

Chuck's cohort consisted of 44 participants carefully selected from over 200 applicants throughout the United States, employed by local, State, and Federal emergency management agencies, the American Red Cross, and institutions of higher in a diverse cross-section of emergency management career fields.

The members of Chuck's cohort also unanimously selected him to serve as the student representative, keynote speaker for his cohort's graduation ceremony, an honor supported by FEMA Administration and Instructor Cadre.

Successful completion of the FEMA Emergency Managers Advanced Academy completes the second phase of Chuck's three-phase professional development program, with the application process for the FEMA Emergency Managers Executive Academy to begin in the winter of 2019.
