Democrat and Chronicle Article Explores MCC's Planning for "Whatever May Come Next"
"MCC asks what
will make campus life feel comfortable as Rochester reopens," an article by
Democrat and Chronicle Education Reporter Justin Murphy published online on May
28, 2020.
The article highlighted MCC's five reopening work groups and how MCC's
calling project helped the College connect with students and anticipate their
expectations about returning to campus.
The article included the perspectives of MCC optics student Alyssa Cheney
and criminal justice major and student-leader Benny Martinez and noted how "MCC
leaders are busy planning" and monitoring public health information as well as
enrollment and financial figures.
Acknowledging how the majority of students look forward to returning to
campus, MCC Interim President Dr. Kate Douglas said, "And we want them back.
But we don't want them back until it's safe."
In addition to Alyssa and Benny, our thanks to Dr. Douglas, Vice President
Dr. Todd Oldham, Executive Dean Dr. Joel Frater and Associate Vice President
Darrell Jachim-Moore for participating in interviews.
