December is DWI Awareness Month

For many people, December can be a month of celebrations, parties and going out for drinks with friends to catch up. For others, it may be a challenging time in which people turn to alcohol and drugs to cope. Whatever the reason is behind people indulging this holiday season, it is important for them to remember the dangers of impaired driving. Historically, December has a higher accident rate than other months on average. For this reason, December has been designated as National Drunk and Drugged Driving Awareness Month.

To help bring attention to this important topic, MCC’s Counseling Center, Disability Services and & Health Services Department has teamed up with MCC's Public Safety and StopDWI Monroe County to provide an informative and interactive event at our Brighton Campus. Students will learn more about the dangers of impaired driving by using a video game simulator, doing mock sobriety tests with impairment goggles, and reading stories of people within our own community who lost their lives tragically to drunk or drugged driving accidents. The event will be held on December 14th from 11:30am to 1:00pm at our Brighton Campus Terrace. We hope to see you there!
