The Holy Month of Ramadan Begins May 6

Many students, staff and faculty who practice the Muslim faith will be observing the Holy Month of Ramadan beginning the evening of Sunday, May 5, and continuing through Tuesday, June 4th, concluding with Eid al-Fitr, the celebration at the end of the 30 days of fasting.

During Ramadan, Muslims fast from food and drink from sun up to sun down. The dates of Ramadan rotate each year depending on the Islamic calendar. This year Ramadan falls during MCC's final weeks of school and through the final exam period. The length of each daily fast will last up to 16 hours. At sunset, they break their fast with an Iftar dinner and then begin the fast again the next day at sunrise.

Here are some ways you can support your students this month.
