SNAPed Nutritional Tabling Event

Proper nutrition plays a vital role in the success of college students. Studies show that eating healthy is linked with better academic performance, increased brain function, stress reduction and reduced illnesses. Yet, it can be very challenging for students to consume an optimal diet, especially for non-traditional students. You may be balancing a full-time course load, with working full-time, and family responsibilities at home. The stress of this balancing act coupled with limited free time can make it easy to put health and proper nutrition on the back burner. However, this in turn can negatively impact your academic performance and overall health. For this reason, it is important to try and find ways to prioritize and make time to properly nourish yourselves.

To highlight this important topic, our Counseling Center, Disability Services and Health Services Department has partnered with Cornell Cooperative Extension/SNAP-ED to provide fun, educational and tasty tabling events. A rep from SNAP-Ed will be coming to the Brighton Campus monthly for the Spring Semester, starting today! Their table will be set up on the Terrace from 11am-1pm. They will be providing educational materials on proper nutrition, doing a demo on how to prepare a quick, easy and healthy meal as well as providing a free food sample. You won't want to miss this one!
