April 5th - Anthony Plonczynski -
Figueroa (he/him/él)
In his current role, as the Regional Political Organizer for the state's
largest labor organization, the New York State United Teachers (NYSUT), Anthony
has implemented and executed NYSUT's political program. In this role, he led
over 200 local unions and nearly 60,000 members to become active advocates and
effectively engage with their governmental leaders.
In addition, he works with elected officials across all government levels,
managing legislative priorities, endorsement processes, and campaigns. These
experiences have provided opportunities to work closely with leaders from city,
town, and county offices to state and federal offices such as the New York
State Assembly, New York State Senate, U.S. Congress, U.S. Senate, and
President of the United States.
Anthony is currently an EdD candidate at the University of
Rochester in Teaching & Curriculum, Education Policy.

development, and the intersect of institutional logics and cultural norms.
His 10 years as an officer and leader in the U.S. Navy and an MBA from the

Stuart spent twelve years as a full-time faculty member at his undergraduate
alma mater, Olivet College in Michigan. After leaving his teaching position for
an appointment as Associate Dean for Curriculum and Instruction at SUNY
Jefferson Community College in Watertown, New York he discovered his admiration
for the mission of community colleges in general, and most especially, the role
of community colleges as providers of higher education opportunity and
workforce development in a region.
While at SUNY Jefferson, he launched the college’s distance learning
program, developed an assessment system that generated improvements in student
learning, and developed new curricula that met the workforce demands of the
area.
Additionally, he served eight years as Dean of Curriculum and Assessment
here at Monroe Community College. While working at MCC, he completed his Ph.D.
in Higher Education Leadership at Capella University. In his current role as
the Provost and Executive Vice President at the Community College of Allegheny
County, he leads efforts to reinvent advising, tutoring, financial aid, student
