2020-21 Winter and Spring Sports Update

Dear Tribune Community,

MCC's participation in 2020-2021 winter and spring sports is based on the National Junior College Athletic Association and SUNY guidelines and current conditions concerning the pandemic. Many factors are considered in the decision-making process, including the current transmission rate locally and regionally, as well as campus and statewide directives regarding travel, public gatherings and group size, and visitors to campus.

As such, plans are underway to schedule virtual meets for MCC's swimming and diving team, pending the completion of pool repairs by mid-February (before the first scheduled competition). In a continued effort to safeguard the health and safety of student-athletes, coaching staff and the campus community, MCC will not compete in the sports of basketball and volleyball this winter. A decision regarding competition in the sports of baseball, lacrosse, soccer, and softball has not been made at this time. All MCC teams, including basketball and volleyball, will continue to have access to athletic training services and will practice following local, state and national guidance.

We recognize and share in the disappointment Tribune players and their families feel at this time. MCC is home to one of the NJCAA's top-ranked athletics programs, and our student-athletes are valued ambassadors for MCC and our region. When conditions are deemed safe, MCC Tribune players will return to competition.

We thank you in advance for your understanding and support.

Stay well.
