The Week Ahead

The office of Student Life & Leadership Development presents the following events for next week (please share with students):

Earth Day Celebration:

  • Monday, April 22nd, 12:00 to 2:00 pm, Downtown Campus 2nd Floor Lounge
    Come celebrate Earth Day with Campus Activities Board and enjoy a movie, snacks, and some Earth Day-related activities. Food will be available while supplies last.

Open Mic – Happy Birthday Shakespeare:

  • Tuesday, April 23rd, 2024, 3:00 to 5:00 pm, Brighton Campus Center Deja Brew
    Join Scribe Society for an open mic in Deja Brew to celebrate Shakespeare’s Birthday. Come show off your talents such as singing, writing, slam poetry, etc. Refreshments will be served, while supplies last.

Spread the Word Inclusion Event:

  • Wednesday, April 24th, 12:00 to 1:00 pm, Brighton Campus Center Terrace and Atrium
    Join the Disability Awareness club for their Spread The Word Inclusion event where they are partnering with multiple clubs and organizations to share information and pledge to make the campus a more inclusive environment. Enjoy games, therapy dogs, giveaways, and food while supplies last.

Bridging The Gap:

  • Wednesday, April 24th, 12:00 to 1:00 pm, Brighton Campus Forum (3-130)
    Join the Veterans Club as they host a student panel for the campus community to come and ask questions and propose solutions on topics such as mental health, well-being, transitioning to campus after active duty, and more.

Storytelling Through An Asian American Lens:

  • Wednesday, April 24th, 2024, 7:00 to 8:00 pm, Brighton Campus Theater (Building 4)
    Join us for a celebration of Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month. Three Asian American storytellers will join us for a discussion on their craft and the importance of representation in acting, writing, and documentary filmmaking. 

American Sign Language – JPosh Guest Speaker:

  • Thursday, April 25th, 2024, 6:00 to 7:00 pm, Brighton Campus Monroe A and B   
    Come listen to Matthew “JPosh” Schwartz, the Founder of JPosh Productions. Born in the Bronx of NYC, JPosh is known for his powerful signed music performances, alongside being a teacher, figure skater, and performer of all trades. He is currently going for his doctorate in K-12 Leadership/Administration and works as Director of Artistic Sign Language at GEVA Theatre in Rochester NY.

Other News:

  • Chemistry and Geology students will travel next Friday to Parratt Wolff to learn about the company’s geotechnical and environmental drilling services.
