Passing of Retiree Professor Emeritus Lee Adnepos, Started the MCC Honors Program

I am sad to inform the college community that Lee Adnepos, a former longtime English professor, passed away on July 31, 2024, at the age of 84.

Lee Adnepos began teaching at MCC in 1971 and spearheaded the creation of the Honors Program. Dozens of letters from students and colleagues highlight the legacy Adnepos left at MCC and beyond. Upon his retirement in 2007, he was named Professor Emeritus.

In addition to teaching at MCC for 36 years, Adnepos took a sabbatical in the 1980s, during which time he taught English in China.

Adnepos earned his bachelor's degree from Cornell University in 1962. From 1963 through 1967, he served in the United States Navy. He received his master’s degree from the University of Rochester in 1970.

He is survived by his wife Judy, his children Carol (Kevin) and Barbara (Brent), and his grandchildren Molly, Elliot, and Ollie.

More information can be found in his full obituary.
