Tech Tip: Wi-Fi and Cell Service on Campus

Occasionally reports are made regarding the quality of wireless service on campus. There are many variables that impact how well applications on our mobile devices function. If you experience issues with your cell service (missed calls, texts, notifications), please contact your carrier's customer service line to report the issue.

If you are experiencing poor cell coverage but need access to the internet, you need to connect to the MCC WiFi.

  1. First put your phone in airplane mode.
  2. Then turn on WiFi. Go to your settings and make sure that you are connected to MCC. If you need to sign in, you will use your full MCC email and your MCC network/email password.
  3. Once connected successfully to MCC WiFi, turn off Airplane mode.

For more information on connecting to MCC WiFi, see our Tech Tips page.

Once on MCC WiFi, you should be able to use apps such as the Microsoft Authenticator App, used for Multifactor Authentication (MFA). You can receive your MFA notification through either WiFi or cell service/data.

Employees should contact the Employee Technology Support Center at 292-8324, option 3, M-F 8:45am-4:45pm for assistance in connecting to the MCC WiFi.  Students should contact the Student Technology Helpdesk (585) 292-8324, press option 1 or technologyhelp@student.monroecc.edu for assistance.
