News from the December MCC Board of Trustees Meeting

The MCC Board of Trustees met on Monday, December 4, 2023 and took the following actions:

  1. Adopted the consent agenda effective December 4, 2023
  2. Accepted operating disbursements totaling $8,851,144.76 for the month of August 2023, $8,631,442.86 for the month of September 2023, and $16,075,697.54 for the month of October 2023, subject to final audit. (A detailed listing is available upon request.)
  3.  Accepted the Interim Financial Report as of August 3, September 30, and October 31, 2023
  4. Authorized Purchase of items over $20,000 as listed for the months of August, September, and October 2023
  5. Approved the non-rank title changes and confirmation of salary increases previously put on hold for the following individuals:  See Board of Trustees Agenda 12/4/23 (PDF),  Personal & Programs
  6. Approved a resolution in recognition of Trustee Sabrina Lamar, for her many contributions to MCC, her commitment to student success and high-quality education, and her leadership and unique ability to make a difference
  7. Approved Consent Calendar

The Board heard presentations from:

  • Student Testimonial by Kevin Messam
  • Student Trustee Update by Ana Santos
  • Student Success Dashboard with Key Performance Indicator (KPI) Measurements William Dixon, Director, Research
  • Long Guns for Public Safety Peace Officers, Dr. DeAnna R. Burt-Nanna, President, Michael Karnes, Dean, Public Safety Training Center, Michael Karnes, Dean, Public Safety Training Center
  • Dr. DeAnna R. Burt-Nanna provided the President’s Update, which included a celebratory recognition of President Emeritus Flynn receiving the Rochester Business Journal’s Icon award and Chair Williams being elected as North East Region Regional Director of the American Community Colleges Trustees. Our Vision2027 objective of enrollment reimagined was referenced as well as our three percent increase in our Fall enrollment, the acknowledgement of a letter from Middle States with a request for supplemental information on graduation rates, with a response that will amplify our work on student success that is already under way, and a “thank you” to students for the opportunity to engage including at Pancakes with the Prez, and the Student Leadership desert social
  •  Dr. Robin Cole Jr., Economic & Workforce Development & Career Technical Education (EDIWS) on EDIWS activities, Shannon Glasgow, Director Title IX, on Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Accountability activities on behalf of Dr. Calvin Gantt, Vice President, Diversity, Equity and Belonging and Executive Director, Downtown Campus; Greg Hinton, CFO/Vice President, on Administrative Services activities; Dr. Margaret Semmer, Provost & Vice President on Academic Service activities; Mark Pastorella, Associate Vice President MCC Foundation on Institutional Advancement and MCC Foundation on behalf of Gretchen Wood, Vice President Advancement and Executive Director, MCC Foundation on upcoming activities, including the upcoming 32nd Annual Salute to Excellence on December 6, 2023 and Gold Star Gala on April 27 , 2024
  • Shared Governance representatives including Student Government Association President Joseph Leichtner, Faculty Senate President Rebecca Babcock, Dr. Burt-Nanna representing Administration, and Support Staff Planning Council provided a written report
  • Faculty Association President Beth Gizzi provided an update; CSEA leaders provided a written update.
