County Legislature John Baynes Appointed Trustee, Lifelong Educator and Labor Advocate Joins MCC Board

At its January 29 meeting, the MCC Board of Trustees will welcome Monroe County Legislator John Baynes as its newest member. Appointed by the Monroe County Legislature, Trustee Baynes will serve the remainder of Trustee Sabrina LaMar’s term through 2025. A lifelong educator and labor advocate, Legislator Baynes represents the Monroe County Legislature's 11th District, comprised of western Perinton, the Village of Fairport, and the Village of East Rochester. He was elected in 2019 and re-elected in 2021 and 2023. He served 46 years as a high school English teacher in Monroe County, teaching at Fairport High School from 1978-2017. He is the vice-chair of the Agenda/Charter Committee of the Monroe County Legislature. John also serves on the Ways and Means Committee and as chair of the Recreation and Education Committee.
