Kickoff for Mental Health Awareness Month

Please join the Counseling Center, Disability Services and Health Services Department as we highlight May as Mental Health Awareness Month. Now, more than ever, it is important to come together to raise awareness on this topic and help fight the stigma surrounding mental health. Each year there is a growing number of Americans experiencing mental health illnesses. According to the National Institute of Mental Health, one in five U.S. adults are living with a mental illness, yet estimates suggest that only half of individuals receive treatment. Our office will be providing many events and opportunities throughout the month of May to open up the conversation around mental health, provide students with the tools to promote positive mental health, educate students on when and where to seek help, and what additional resources are available to them. There will be daily events for the first week of May to kick off the month.
