Academic Advisement

Welcome

The purpose of Advisement and Transfer Services is to serve the entire college community by coordinating, facilitating, promoting, and enhancing academic advisement and transfer planning. We are dedicated to student learning and development by advising, teaching, training, and mentoring our diverse student population. We advocate for students at the start of their MCC journey through the successful completion of their educational goals. Advisement and Transfer Services is committed to an integrated advising approach that reflects the guided pathways philosophy. The student/advisor relationship is a critical component to degree completion. Students benefit the most when they receive guidance from an expert who knows their pathway.

The Brighton Advisement Center serves students:

  • enrolled in competitive health-related pathways
  • enrolled in Business Administration/Economics pathways
  • who have not yet decided on a major ("Undeclared")
  • who are requesting advisement regarding a major change

Students in these pathways can make appointments using Starfish (sign-in to Blackboard at mcc.open.suny.edu, click the Starfish Home) or be seen on a walk-in basis.

The Brighton and Downtown Advisement Centers are happy to assist students with locating their assigned advisor or department for advisement. Advisor and department assignments are found in Degree Works (login to myMCC, select Students, select My Account, go to Academic Advising Channel).
