Breath Analysis Operator Course

Program Announcement

The Monroe County Public Safety Training Facility (PSTF), under the auspices of the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS), will be holding an Breath Analysis Operator Course at 1190 Scottsville Road, Rochester, NY. This course trains law enforcement personnel in the operation of the DataMaster DMT infrared breath test instrument. The program presents information on the effects of alcohol on the human body, operational procedures, NYS Vehicle & Traffic Law pertaining to DWI enforcement, and pertinent case law. Students must pass both a written test and an instrument proficiency examination in order to be certified.

Students who successfully complete this course will receive a NYS Department of Health Breath Analysis Operator Permit. Successful students will also receive two (2) college credits from Monroe Community College.

April 24 thru 26, 2024, 8:30am to 4:30pm

Prerequisites

  • Active duty, sworn NYS certified police officer

Graduation Requirements

  • 90% attendance (policy set by Monroe Community College)
  • 70% passing grade on written examination
  • Satisfactory completion of proficiency testing

Course Tuition and Fees

  • Tuition: $408.00 (per person)
  • Estimated Student Fees: $111.75 (Student fees may vary each semester)
  • Agencies will be billed directly
  • Note: Monroe Community College may find it necessary to revise tuition and fees as necessary and reserves the right to do so.

Please complete the online Law Enforcement Program Course Reservation Form prior to April 1, 2024. Submitting a reservation form does not guarantee admittance to a course. Confirmation notices will be emailed approximately 2 weeks prior to the class. Please remember to check your junk/spam folder.

To avoid double tuition billing, a Certificate of Residence is required from students who reside outside of Monroe County.
