Breath Analysis Operator Recertification Course

Program Announcement

The Monroe County Public Safety Training Facility (PSTF), under the auspices of the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS), will be holding a Breath Analysis Operator Recertification Course at 1190 Scottsville Road, Rochester, New York. A breath analysis instrument operator shall be renewed for a two-year period, provided that, within the 120 calendar days preceding the permit’s expiration date, the operator completes a retraining program designed to refresh and update the operator’s knowledge of each breath analysis instrument for which the operator is seeking permit renewal and attains a passing score on a formal examination.

The Breath Analysis Operator Recertification course is also offered, as an option, through a distance learning program and can be accessed on the NYS Division of Criminal Justice Services website (www.nydcjssims.com).

Session Dates

Choose only one session:

  • April 23, 2024, 8:30am to 12:30pm Or
  • April 23, 2024, 12:30pm to 4:30pm

Prerequisites

  • In order to be admitted into a testing site, the operator must possess a copy of their NYS Department of Health permit bearing a valid 2024 expiration date within the 120 calendar days preceding the permit’s expiration date.

Attire (dress code):

  • Business casual, Or
  • Department designated uniform of the day

Graduation Requirements

  • Passing grade on written examination.

Course Tuition and Fees

  • There is no tuition or fees as this is a non-credit bearing course.

Reservations

Please complete the online Law Enforcement Program Course Reservation Form prior to April 1, 2024. Submitting a reservation form does not guarantee admittance to a course. Confirmation notices will be emailed approximately 2 weeks prior to the class. Please remember to check your junk/spam folder.

To avoid double tuition billing, a Certificate of Residence is required from students who reside outside of Monroe County.
