Emergency Vehicle Operator Instructor Course

Program Announcement

The Monroe County Public Safety Training Facility (PSTF), under the auspices of the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS), will be holding an Emergency Vehicle Operator Instructor Course at 1190 Scottsville Road, Rochester, New York. This course covers the fundamental driving skills necessary to instruct, demonstrate, and practically apply in a training setting. During the driving range practicum, students are expected to demonstrate basic driving skills and techniques while performing prescribed exercises. This is a National Highway Traffic Safety Administration approved course for police emergency vehicle operations instructor training.

Students who successfully complete this course will receive DCJS certification as an EVOC Instructor and 3.5 college credits from Monroe Community College.

Session Dates

April 15 thru 24, 2024, 8:00am to 4:00pm

Prerequisites

  • Completion of the Basic Course for Police Officer or Campus Public Safety Officer Course;
  • Active duty NYS police or peace officer;
  • Three years of experience operating police or campus public safety patrol vehicles;
  • Currently certified MPTC General Topics Instructor;
  • Valid New York State Class D driver license.

Required Attire and/or Equipment

  • Attire (dress code)
    • Department designated uniform of the day, Or
    • BDU style pant and Polo-style shirt

  • Equipment
    • Department assigned patrol vehicle

Graduation Requirements

  • 90% attendance (policy set by Monroe Community College)
  • 70% passing grade on written examination(s)
  • Satisfactory completion of practical exercises

Course Tuition and Fees

  • Tuition: $714.00 (per person)
  • Estimated Student Fees: $111.75 (Student fees may vary each semester)
  • Agencies will be billed directly
  • Note: Monroe Community College may find it necessary to revise tuition and fees as necessary and reserves the right to do so.

Please complete the online Law Enforcement Program Course Reservation Form prior to March 25, 2024. Submitting a reservation form does not guarantee admittance to a course. Confirmation notices will be emailed approximately 2 weeks prior to the class. Please remember to check your junk/spam folder.

To avoid double tuition billing, a Certificate of Residence is required from students who reside outside of Monroe County.
