September is National Suicide Prevention and Awareness Month

Suicide can be a difficult and uncomfortable topic to discuss, but it is one that should be talked about openly and honestly as it is proven that brave conversations can save lives. According to the National Institute of Health, suicide is the second-leading cause of death among people age 15 to 24 in the U.S. making it the number two leading cause of death for college students. To help open up the dialogue and shine a light on this important topic, September is recognized as National Suicide Prevention & Awareness Month. In our growing efforts to share resources, offer support and to help break down the barriers that prevent people from seeking help, The Counseling Center, Disability Services and Health Services Department will be offering various events throughout the month of September highlighting suicide prevention. Please see below for event dates and times. Stay tuned to the daily Tribune for additional details for each event. We hope to see you there.
