SUNY-MCC Print Program - Quick Update and FAQ's

Implementing the SUNY-MCC Print Program is ongoing - be on the lookout for weekly updates here in the Tribune.

  • Removal of Single Function Printers from the 3rd Floor of the Spina Administration Building and the North and South Faculty Towers is under review by the Managed Print team. We expect to have a more detailed timeline on that next week. (For those in the Faculty Towers – please note that removal of printers will not happen before Fall 2023 Finals are over)
  • Removal of old Xerox Multi-Function Devices will continue as we work our way from Building to Building or, as necessary for Departments in need.

Did you know? These new Devices not only print but, they copy and scan to e-mail as well. You may notice us referring to these machines as MFD’s (Multi-Function Devices) and, that would be why.

And, any MCC Employee can print to the new network HP machines in the Towers.

You’ll need to add the printer – see below for instructions.

For security and confidentiality - your job will not print until you release it.

In order to print to one of these printers:

If you have trouble, the helpdesk can walk you through the process remotely.

If you print to a Print Release Station queue, you can pick up your job at any Print Release Station printer.

Just tap your MCC ID badge at the printer and your sent print jobs will pop up and you can select which ones to print.

Please Note: Print Jobs submitted that are not released are purged after 12 hours.

Questions, Suggestions, Feedback? We have received a lot of feedback and questions and we appreciate all of the information.

In response, we have created the attached FAQ’s document to cover some of the most common questions.

Of course, we continue to welcome your questions and feedback and will respond as promptly as possible.

Please send those comments and questions by email to SUNYPrintProgram@monroecc.edu

(Please do not submit requests for service or broken printers to this e-mail address but, continue to submit help desk tickets.)

Our Goal: Of course, we are well aware that the implementation of this Program is a major change for most of us and, is bound to cause some frustration. We appreciate your patience and cooperation as we all work to adjust to this new print environment.

Please bear in mind that we are doing this with good reason and for the benefit of the College as a whole, all while doing our part to increase sustainability.

Implementing this Program will help MCC accomplish the following:

  • Improve Sustainability: save energy, save money, reduce our carbon footprint, reduce paper waste
  • Reduce printing overall – send and archive documents digitally instead of printing, when possible
  • Reduce the overall number of print devices on campus by removing all individual or desktop printers
  • Migrate all users to centrally located Multi-Function Devices (MFD’s)
  • Reduce color printing overall and push color printing to the Print Shop when necessary

Thank you for your continued support and participation in this process.

Project co-leads: Amy Contrera (Technology Services) and Kristen Reed (Purchasing and Central Receiving)
