Welcome Back! Explore How MCC Libraries Can Support You and Your Students This Fall

Welcome to the new academic year! We’re excited to reconnect and share the latest from MCC Libraries. Our team is ready to support your teaching with a variety of resources and services that enhance your students' learning. We look forward to collaborating with you!

Fall 2024 Library Service Highlights

Instructional Support

  • One-on-One Research Help: Students can drop by the library, schedule a research help appointment, or use our 24/7 chat service..
  • Library and Research Instruction: Our librarians offer comprehensive instruction beyond finding articles. We help students develop critical information literacy skills and advanced research strategies. For more details, check out our Library Instruction LibGuide.
  • Research Essentials Workshop Series: Enhance students’ research skills with our workshop series, covering various important topics.
  • College Researcher: Integrate our online tutorials, available through Brightspace, directly into your courses.
  • Customized Research Guides (aka LibGuides): Our librarians create tailored research guides with curated resources, tools, and tips to support your course assignments.
  • Presentation Help Appointments: Students can book practice sessions with an experienced staff member, receive feedback, and boost their confidence.
  • Streaming Video Resources: Access platforms like Academic Video Online and Kanopy for easy integration into your courses.
  • Course Reserves: Place textbooks and course materials on reserve for student access.
  • Request Materials for the Collection: Need specific materials? Contact your department’s liaison librarian or email us at libraries@monroecc.edu.

Spaces and Technology

  • Quiet and Collaborative Study Spaces: No reservation is needed for general study areas. Students can reserve study rooms here.
  • Family-Friendly Study Rooms: Dedicated spaces are available for student parents to work while their children play.
  • Laptop Loaner Program: Students can borrow laptops through our loaner program
  • Student Technology Support: While not a library service, the library houses the Student Technology Help Desk for network account and password issues. For help with instructional technologies like Brightspace or Microsoft Office, direct students to the Student Technology Advancement Center (STAC).

Research and Library Resources

  • Access to Over 129 Library Databases: Explore a wealth of journal articles, books, and other resources. Use OneSearch to search across multiple databases and our catalog..
  • Browse Journals by Subject: Discover journals in specific subject areas using Browzine.
