Tech Tip: Windows Updates

Keeping current with all Windows updates can help prevent issues from Outlook crashing to audio/video issues when using Zoom. To see the version of Windows your desktop or laptop is on, go to Settings > System > About.  MCC computers should be on Windows 11 - Version 23H2.

Microsoft will no longer support Windows 10 after October 2025. If your computer is still on Windows 10 please call Employee Technical Support at 292-8324, option 3, M thru F, 8:45am to 4:45pm. The Tech Support team will verify that your device will not update to Windows 10 and assist you in requesting an upgraded device. Faculty need to have their computers updated before leaving for the summer to ensure a smooth fall semester start!

To check that your device is up to date, open Start Settings Update & Security Windows Update and see your update status and available updates.

Updates can take some time, so we recommend starting updates at the end of your workday (just lock your desktop when you leave--press Windows key plus L) and check to see if there are additional updates (they load sequentially) to install on the next day.

Windows 11 has features such as increased security, an improved File Explorer, and Microsoft Office 2021 that make it superior to Windows 10. Read tips on Windows 11 on our Tech Tips page.

Have a question? Call Employee Technical Support at 292-8324, option 3, M thru F, 8:45am to 4:45pm.
