How Do I Access My Courses in Brightspace?

Welcome, Students! Brightspace is our new digital learning environment that we will be using this fall and beyond. It will replace our old Blackboard system. Students like the modern look and easier navigation of Brightspace. While you may be nervous to learn a new system, don't worry, we have you covered!

The easiest way to get to Brightspace is through our myMCC portal. Login at mymcc.monroecc.edu with your MCC email and password and click on the Brightspace Classes tile.

  • Each of your courses has a space for your professors to post materials at their discretion, but the degree to which you will use it will vary by your class modality.
  • While a face-to-face course may have a Course Information Sheet posted and no interaction required in Brightspace, a remote course may have a link to your zoom class, a fully online course will require all of your interactions and activities to be done in Brightspace (and/or a space like Pearson or McGraw Hill). You will also see everything in between!
  • It's best to check your schedule to understand what mode your course is operating in to make sure you are in the right place.

Don't worry, this first week you will be getting to know your professors, your classmates, and how to approach the work that you will do this semester.

  • If you are just getting started with Brightspace, you can explore our MCC Online Student Orientation to learn the basics of Brightspace, Zoom, and tips for success. It's a low stakes way to practice tasks like submitting an assignment, posting a discussion thread, and completing an online quiz.
  • Watch our quick student introduction video to your Brightspace courses (5 min): Are You Ready? Brightspace Student Introduction
