Students seeking Inclusive Childhood Education certification (Grades 1-6) without Middle School Extension must major in Inclusive Childhood Education and another approved liberal arts major or concentration: Media and Communication, Computer Science, Economics, English, Sport Management, History, Psychology, Mathematics, Spanish, American Studies, Statistics, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, or Sociology.
The second major or concentration may require candidates to complete more than the minimum 120 credits required for degree completion.
Students seeking Inclusive Childhood Education with Middle School Extension, grades7-9, must select an approved major or concentration in one of the following content areas: American studies, history, English, Spanish, science (biology, chemistry, or physics), or mathematics. Candidates with any second major or concentration may also opt to take EDUC 331 – Differentiated Curriculum, instruction, and Assessment in Early Childhood (2 credits), EDUC 332 – Practicum in Early Childhood (1 credit) and EDUC 104 and 105 – Clinical Experiences in Early Childhood (0) (50 hours) to obtain early childhood certification, Birth – Grade 2. | + CONTENT COURSES: See Major Listing Sheet tab above.
When choosing content courses:
GPA of 3.0 or higher is advised for acceptance into SJFC School of Education.
GPA of 2.0 is required for MCC graduation.
