Labs & Facilities

The VaPA Learning Center consists of two computer graphics labs in Building 4 (Rooms 101 and 103) that are shared with classes serving the Visual Communications degree programs. The labs are equipped with Macintosh computers, input and output devices, and software packages commonly used in the graphic design, printing, publishing, and multi-media industries.

Due to COVID-19, please make a reservation to use the open labs.

Applications include the Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Acrobat Professional and After Effects), Apple's iLife and iWork suites, and Final Cut Pro Studio. Vectorworks (3D CAD) is also used in the labs for our Interior Design program. Open lab hours vary each semester, depending on class schedules. See the schedules posted outside the doors.

At the beginning of each semester, outstanding students in Visual Communications degree programs are hired as Student Aides to assist fellow students and supervise the use of hardware and software. Interested students should contact the Mac Lab Manager for details.

In addition to the graphics labs, VaPA also has a Macintosh computer lab for students in the Music programs. These machines are equipped with a variety of music notation, editing, and ear training software, and are connected to keyboards via MIDI interfaces. Open labs in the Music area are also dependent on class schedules. Contact the Music Department Instructors for details.
