Description
The Individual Studies program is designed to provide a flexible alternative for students who have defined their academic and career goals. Students enrolled in Individual Studies will work with an advisor to select courses that will allow them to transfer into their chosen baccalaureate program as seamlessly as possible.

Program Learning Outcomes
1.Critical Thinking: Students will evaluate information and perspectives in order to construct arguments.
2.Communication: Students will communicate effectively in oral and written forms with consideration for audience, purpose, context, and medium.
3.DEISJ: Students will analyze the role that complex networks of social structures play in the creation and perpetuation of the dynamics of power, privilege, oppression, and opportunity.
4.Quantitative and Scientific Reasoning: Students will describe and/or apply scientific methods and reasoning in research and/or problem-solving.
5.Information Literacy: Students will conduct independent discipline-specific research and use information ethically and with an awareness of authority, validity, and bias.

Requirements for Program Entrance
If a student’s academic goals cannot be met by an existing MCC program, a student may request admission to Individual Studies. Admission requests should be reviewed by an advisor to determine if the program entrance criteria are met. To be eligible for admission into this program, students must have a minimum of 24 earned credits and/or approval by the Director of Advising Services, or a designee from Transfer Services, Veterans Services, or Global Education and International Services. Admission requests must be submitted by an advisor or success coach; requests made without proxy approval will not be considered.
