Academic Advisement is a shared responsibility between professional staff, faculty, and students. Using Guided Pathways, an integrated advising approach, advisors assist students with the transition into college and throughout their time at MCC. Guided Pathways specify the student’s academic area of interest or degree program.
New, transfer and returning students are assigned a professional advisor as their primary contact for the upcoming semester’s course advisement. Advising occurs at all MCC locations (Brighton Campus, Downtown Campus, Applied Technologies Center, and Public Safety Training Facility) along with off-site locations. Students are assigned advisors based on their pathway.
During the first semester, a faculty advisor will be assigned to students based on pathway. This advisor will be their point of contact for all academic advisement while the student remains in their chosen pathway.

All accepted students who are returning after three or more semesters away from MCC should schedule an appointment with a professional advisor prior to registering for classes.
- Currently enrolled in a program and taking classes
Students are assigned an advisor based on their pathway. You can find your assigned advisor in your my.monroecc.edu account. Email email@example.com if you have any questions or concerns.
