These teacher education programs are designed jointly with SUNY Brockport. They provide students with the opportunity to earn the associate degree at MCC while progressing toward the baccalaureate degree and teacher certification at Brockport. The specific teacher certification areas are:
Childhood Education (1-6)
Adolescent Education English (7-12)
Adolescent Education Social Studies (7-12)
Students selected for the degree programs will receive joint admission to both colleges, continuous advisement, and special academic and student support services. Students from under-represented groups are encouraged to apply.
Students interested in any of the three degree programs should contact an Admissions counselor.
In order to continue their professional study at Brockport, students will have to achieve a minimum 3.0 GPA at MCC.
The general course of study for all three degree programs follows. Students will be advised as to specific courses necessary to fulfill both associate degree and baccalaureate degree requirements.
Students should be aware that the program of study for this associate degree program is dependent upon New York State requirements for teacher education majors. If the State requirements change, so will the courses in the associate degree program.

*The teacher education programs require proficiency in a language other than English. The level of proficiency can be demonstrated by one year of college-level study or its equivalent. Please contact the Transfer and Placement Office to determine your placement options.

You may pick up a copy of an audit form in either Academic Advisement Center, the Counseling Center or Transfer and Placement Office (Brighton Campus, Rm. 1-231), or the Student Services Office at the Damon City Campus (5th Floor).
