Chemistry for Teachers

The Chemistry for Teachers Microcredential at Monroe Community College (MCC) is a focused academic credential designed for in-service New York State certified teachers seeking supplementary or additional certification in Chemistry. This 13-credit program provides rigorous coursework that covers a significant portion of the New York State learning standards and competencies in Chemistry, helping educators strengthen subject expertise for the classroom.

Note: NYSED does not pre-approve any coursework for supplementary or additional teacher certifications. Teachers must submit their transcripts, and proof of additional certification requirements such as Content Specialty Test (CST) results, to NYSED directly to apply for these certifications. Prospective students are encouraged to reach out to the NYSED Office of Teaching Initiatives or their Regional Certification Office for more information on certification pathways and the application process.

NYSED requires a grade of C or higher in subject area classes in order for them to count towards certification.
