Annual MCC Diversity Conference Speaker Change; Registration Deadline Next Week

Due to a scheduling conflict, our originally scheduled guest speaker can no longer attend the annual diversity conference on Friday, October 2, on our Brighton Campus. Our conference theme remains the same: Neurodiversity, Mental Health, and Belonging: Creating a More Inclusive Community, but our new guest speaker will be journalist and author Eric Garcia.

Eric Garcia is the Washington Bureau Chief and Senior Washington Correspondent at The Independent, a columnist for MSNBC, and author of We're Not Broken: Changing the Autism Conversation. Garcia previously worked as an assistant editor at the Washington Post’s Outlook section and an associate editor at The Hill, as well as a correspondent for National Journal, MarketWatch, and Roll Call. He has also written for the Daily Beast, the New Republic, and Salon.com. Garcia graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Eric will headline the conference, which begins at 8:30 a.m., and, after his keynote, moderate our panel of experts. Following the conference, a Community Resource Fair will be held from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM.

The deadline to register for the conference is Monday, September 28.
