For courses that the Mathematics Department has adopted specific uniform calculator requirements for all sections of a course these are listed by course number. Calculator usage in courses not listed is determined by the individual instructor.

  • MTH 098 - Elementary Algebra with Geometry
    Students are required to have a scientific calculator with no programmable or graphing capabilities. Only this calculator may be used on the final exam and, at the discretion of the instructor, on unit exams.
  • MTH 104 - Intermediate Algebra With Trigonometry
    A non-progammable, non-graphing scientific calculator is required, and may be used freely on all exams.
  • MTH 130 - Modern Business Mathematics
    A non-programmable, non-graphing calculator with squaring, square root, and exponent capabilities is required and may be used freely on all exams.
  • MTH 150 Survey of Mathematics
    At least a scientific calculator is required, but the preference is up to each instructor.
  • MTH 160 Statistics I
    The calculator requirement for MTH 160 is at the discretion of the individual instructor.
  • MTH 165 - College Algebra
    All MTH 165 students are required to have a scientific calculator with no programmable or graphing capabilities. Only this calculator may be used freely on all exams (including the final exam).
  • MTH 200 - Applied Calculus
    A scientific or graphing calculator that does not have symbolic differentiation or integration capabilities is required, and may be used on all exams.

For the following courses, a TI-83, TI-84, or TI-Nspire with TI-84 faceplate calculator is required:
