Film & Discussion: Hate Rising
Please join the Holocaust, Genocide, and Human Rights Project for a viewing
of Hate
Rising (2016) tomorrow evening, March 13 at the Brighton Campus and
Wednesday afternoon, March 14 at the Downtown Campus. Both presentations are
free and open to the public.
This 50-minute documentary by award-winning journalist Jorge Ramos, includes
rare, exclusive access to the Neo-Nazi, Ku Klux Klan and "Alt-Right" movements
and shines a "light on the astonishing and very concerning rise of hate in
America."

The film viewing at the Brighton Campus, will be followed by a discussion
led by Michelle Parker (Psychology/Holocaust, Genocide, and Human Rights
Project). The Downtown Campus discussion will be led by Margaret Rex, a Ph.D.
candidate within the Sociology Department at University at Buffalo, who has an
interest in the intersection between race, social class and anti-government
attitudes, political participation. Margaret is completing her dissertation on
research she has done about extreme far-right and far-left groups, specifically
anti-government militia. She will present briefly on her research and answer
questions about the rise in hate crimes and hate speech.
These events are part of the 2018 Human Rights Film Series hosted by the
